FAQ

Quick answers.

How do I record my first brain-dump?

Open Brainspill. Tap the large record button in the centre of the main screen. Talk freely — ramble, repeat yourself, change your mind. Tap the button again to stop. The app will spend a moment extracting tasks and then drop them into your list.

You can also say “Hey Siri, brainspill” to start a recording hands-free.

Why can’t I record any more today?

The Free tier includes 3 minutes of recording per day. If you’ve hit the cap, the next session will reset at midnight in your local timezone. Upgrade to Pro for 1 hour per day, or Max for unlimited.

How do I sync my tasks to Apple Reminders?

Open Brainspill, go to Settings → Sync → Apple Reminders, and toggle it on. The first time you do this, iOS will ask for permission to access Reminders. Tasks will then mirror into a Reminders list called “Brainspill” on your iPhone, and from there they sync to your other Apple devices through your iCloud account.

Reminders sync requires Pro or Max.

Where are my tasks stored?

Locally on your iPhone, in an encrypted SQLite database inside the Brainspill app sandbox. Tasks are not uploaded to any Brainspill server — we don’t operate one. If you turn on Apple Reminders sync, copies are also written into the iOS Reminders app, which Apple may sync to your other devices via iCloud.

Is my voice sent to the cloud?

No. Audio is transcribed on your iPhone using Apple’s on-device speech recognition, and the audio is discarded after the session. Only the transcribed text leaves your device, and only when cloud AI extraction is needed (Free, Pro, and older devices). On Brainspill Max with iPhone 15 Pro or newer running iOS 26+, even the text stays on-device.

How do I cancel my subscription?

All Brainspill subscriptions are managed by Apple. Open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions. Find Brainspill in the list and tap Cancel Subscription. You’ll keep access until the end of the current billing period.

How do I get a refund?

App Store purchases are refunded by Apple, not by us. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the Brainspill purchase, and submit a refund request. Apple decides each request on a case-by-case basis.

I lost my Pro / Max access on a new phone. How do I get it back?

On the new phone, sign in with the same Apple ID you used to subscribe, install Brainspill, then tap Restore Purchases on any paywall. Your subscription will reattach automatically.

The AI got it wrong. What do I do?

Tap any task to edit it, or swipe to delete. The AI is good but not perfect — it will sometimes mishear, miss a task, or invent one. Treat the extracted list as a draft you can clean up in seconds.

If a particular phrase consistently confuses the AI, email us a quick description and we’ll add it to the test set.

How do I delete all my data?

Delete the Brainspill app from your iPhone. That removes the local database and all stored tasks. To also remove tasks that were synced to Apple Reminders, delete them inside the iOS Reminders app. See the Privacy Policy for full detail.

Which iPhones support Apple Intelligence on-device extraction?

iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, the iPhone 16 family, and newer, running iOS 26 or later, with Apple Intelligence enabled. On those devices, Max subscribers get fully on-device task extraction. Older devices fall back to cloud AI for the extraction step (audio always stays on-device, regardless).

Is there an Android version?

Not yet. Brainspill Phase 1 is iOS only. Android is on the roadmap once the iOS experience is dialled in.
